Over the next 8 weeks I'll teach you how to pitch your ideas in a winning way to editors of newspapers and magazines, then craft a story to successful completion.
The other course is called 'Cooking the Books'. It is offered through the Continuing Studies Department of the University of Victoria, but I'm teaching it at the Tuscany Village location of Thrifty Foods in Victoria, in the Cooking and Lifestyle Centre. This means I will be cooking some of the dishes from some of the most influential cookbooks published over the years, including Mastering the Art of French Cooking, by Julia Child.

I was entirely looking forward to participating in your class tonight at UBC.
A semi-surprise work project has lured me away to the mountains.
Where I'm going is so remote the online course won't work.
I enjoy the class room and the opportunity to meet others.
I wonder if I could get news of what I'm going to miss and who I would have met.
I wish all my would-be classmates and you a very nice time, full of rare insights and relaxed fellowship.
