  1. Colin Newell says:

Best pub experience on Vancouver Island: The Crow and Gate…
One of the best classic beverages: Fairmont Empress house specialty cocktails…
Best Island coffee – Well, the Drumroaster of course!
Best Island bakery – cross between Bubby Roses and Mon Petit Choux in Nanaimo.

  2. Kerry Davis says:

I like whatever Nick Versteeg is cooking…
But seriously, it is so hard to choose, especially after all the fabulous pairings at Unsworth Vineyards on Saturday and Rocky Creek Winery on Sunday during the Cowichan Valley Wine and Culinary Festival.

We do find it impossible to pass Hilary’s Cheese in Cowichan Bay without buying!

  3. Imelda Phelan says:

A home made favourite is lunch comprising of SOL farm heirloom tomatoes, sliced Mozzarella di Bufala from Natural Pastures, crispy baguette, lots of olive oil and of course a glass or three of chilled white wine.

  4. Natalie Hemsing says:

Cold comfort ice cream, sea cider rumrunner, Hilary’s cheese curds, BC spot prawns…just to name a few 🙂

  5. My favorite BC bite is definitely locally produced meats from small farms. It’s hard to come by, but a quick visit to many of the local farms around the city will leave you with a great supply of quality free range animals. Beef, lamb, chicken, pork. Mostly organic, grass fed (or fed what nature intended) and absolutely delicious.

I to my part to support the small local farms and I hope everyone else will too!

  6. Christine Elizabeth Smart says:

oh … candied sablefish from FAS, Fol Epi bread, Salt Spring Romelia, and a Cold Comfort ice cream sandwich for something sweet … those are some of my favorite indulgences. A glass of Alderlea Pinot Gris is on my list too!

  7. I enjoy a perfect fall afternoon at Sea Cider Farm & Ciderhouse sipping Pippins Cider and savouring an Artisan Lunch Plate with Castellano Sausage from Oyama Sausage and Bleu Clair cheese from Little Qualicum Cheeseworks.
As a food and wine photographer I enjoy breaks like this from my busy fall shooting schedule.
