{"id":265,"date":"2006-11-03T06:32:33","date_gmt":"2006-11-03T06:32:33","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/localhost\/wp_genova\/?p=265"},"modified":"2006-11-03T06:32:33","modified_gmt":"2006-11-03T06:32:33","slug":"so_much_on_my_p","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/blog.dongenova.com\/site\/so_much_on_my_p\/","title":{"rendered":"So Much On My Plate &#8211; Tea!"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><em>If you&#8217;re looking for the Pacific Palate &#8216;Most Memorable Meal&#8217; contest, please click <a href=\"\/2006\/10\/pacific_palate__5.html\">here<\/a>.<\/em><a rel=\"lightbox\" href=\"\/images\/various\/brewt204.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" title=\"Brewt204\" height=\"350\" alt=\"Brewt204\" src=\"\/images\/various-small\/brewt204.jpg\" width=\"200\" border=\"0\" style=\"FLOAT: left; MARGIN: 0px 5px 5px 0px\" \/><\/a> <\/p>\n<p>This week on So Much On My Plate I talked about the latest innovations in the world of tea.&nbsp; One of the great new things I&#8217;ve tried lately is this Brewt tea and coffee infusers I found at the Coffee and Tea Expo in Vancouver.&nbsp; The <a href=\"http:\/\/www.corneliabean.com\/\">Cornelia Bean<\/a> folks from Winnipeg are distributing this product in Canada.&nbsp; What I love about it is that is makes it very easy to brew loose leaf tea.&nbsp; Put a &#8216;three-fingered pinch&#8217; of tea in the Brewt, add hot water, let steep.&nbsp; Then place the Brewt on top of your teacup.&nbsp; A special one-way valve opens and dispenses the tea.&nbsp; The moment you lift up the Brewt, the tea stops pouring!&nbsp; No muss, no fuss of teaballs or strainers, and then just rinse out the Brewt and you&#8217;re ready to go again.<\/p>\n<p><a rel=\"lightbox\" href=\"\/images\/various\/twoleaves_1.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" title=\"Twoleaves_1\" height=\"227\" alt=\"Twoleaves_1\" src=\"\/images\/various-small\/twoleaves_1.jpg\" width=\"200\" border=\"0\" style=\"FLOAT: left; MARGIN: 0px 5px 5px 0px\" \/><\/a>&nbsp; You can learn much more about tea by going to the Tea Council of Canada <a href=\"http:\/\/www.tea.ca\/\">website<\/a>.&nbsp; A common trend I spotted at the Coffee and Tea Expo was the appearance of the pyramid-shaped tea bag, or &#8216;sachet&#8217; as they&#8217;re known in the industry.&nbsp; These bags allow for more free-flow brewing and leave room for whole-leaf tea to expand.&nbsp; A company from Aspen, Colorado called <a href=\"http:\/\/www.worldpantry.com\/cgi-bin\/ncommerce3\/ExecMacro\/twoleaves\/home.d2w\/report\">Two Leaves and a Bud <\/a>was promoting its single origin teas, another big trend.<\/p>\n<p><a rel=\"lightbox\" href=\"\/images\/various\/flowering_teas.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" title=\"Flowering_teas\" height=\"160\" alt=\"Flowering_teas\" src=\"\/images\/various-small\/flowering_teas.jpg\" width=\"200\" border=\"0\" style=\"FLOAT: left; MARGIN: 0px 5px 5px 0px\" \/><\/a> The final exciting trend I spoke about today are flowering teas.&nbsp; These are hand-sewn tea leaves and sometimes some real flower buds that expand when you brew them for a magnificent display.&nbsp; The ones pictured here are from the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.worldpantry.com\/cgi-bin\/ncommerce3\/CategoryDisplay?cgmenbr=175633&amp;cgrfnbr=191379\">Numi Organic Tea<\/a> company.<\/p>\n<p>Of course the key to serving these teas at home is to have a nice clear teapot to brew them in!<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>If you&#8217;re looking for the Pacific Palate &#8216;Most Memorable Meal&#8217; contest, please click here.
