{"id":313,"date":"2006-06-27T18:08:38","date_gmt":"2006-06-27T18:08:38","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/localhost\/wp_genova\/?p=313"},"modified":"2006-06-27T18:08:38","modified_gmt":"2006-06-27T18:08:38","slug":"food_for_though_3-11","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/blog.dongenova.com\/site\/food_for_though_3-11\/","title":{"rendered":"Food For Thought &#8211; Carp Farmers&#8217; Market"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a rel=\"lightbox\" href=\"\/images\/various\/img_1948.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" title=\"Img_1948\" height=\"266\" alt=\"Img_1948\" src=\"\/images\/various-small\/img_1948.jpg\" width=\"200\" border=\"0\" style=\"FLOAT: left; MARGIN: 0px 5px 5px 0px\" \/><\/a> This week Food For Thought visited the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.carpfarmersmarket.com\/\">Carp Farmers&#8217; Market<\/a>, just outside Ottawa, and named the Most Improved Farmers&#8217; Market in Ontario in 2005.<\/p>\n<p>Pictured here is one of the prepared food vendors, Margaret Reid.&nbsp; She and her family make <a href=\"http:\/\/www.sugarfreeorganic.com\/\">sugar-free organic spreads and salsas<\/a>, and you&#8217;d never know the sugar is missing.&nbsp; She doesn&#8217;t use any artificial sweeteners, either!<\/p>\n<p><a rel=\"lightbox\" href=\"\/images\/various\/img_1946.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" title=\"Img_1946\" height=\"266\" alt=\"Img_1946\" src=\"\/images\/various-small\/img_1946.jpg\" width=\"200\" border=\"0\" style=\"FLOAT: left; MARGIN: 0px 5px 5px 0px\" \/><\/a> Jim Keith and Elizabeth Harker have a sheep farm in Lanark, Ontario, and that&#8217;s where Jim makes his <a href=\"http:\/\/www.artisancheese.ca\/\">Back Forty Artisan Cheese.<\/a>&nbsp; I liked his Highland Blue the best, and it won a ribbon at the prestigious Royal Winter Fair cheese competitions in Toronto.<\/p>\n<p>I also had a chance to sample some bison from Richard Allan&#8217;s <a href=\"http:\/\/www.ontariobison.ca\/\">Battle River Bison Company<\/a>, with a ranch near Perth, Ontario, and steak and kidney pie from Rosanna Salter&#8217;s <a href=\"http:\/\/www.arnweb.com\/pieshop\/\">English Pie Shop<\/a>.
