The first one actually begins today, October 5th.&#0160; But you don&#39;t have to go anywhere to learn.&#0160; This is my online version of Food and Travel Writing.&#0160; Click <a href=\"http:\/\/writingcentre.ubc.ca\/professional\/grouping3.html#3\" target=\"_blank\">here<\/a> to view details of the course.&#0160; Over the next 8 weeks I&#39;ll teach you how to pitch your ideas in a winning way to editors of newspapers and magazines, then craft a story to successful completion. <\/p>\n<p><a href=\"\/images\/old\/6a00d8341f728c53ef0120a5bf6663970b-800wi.jpg\" rel=\"lightbox\" style=\"float: left;\"><img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"Mtaofc\" class=\"asset asset-image at-xid-6a00d8341f728c53ef0120a5bf6663970b \" src=\"\/images\/old\/6a00d8341f728c53ef0120a5bf6663970b-250wi.jpg\" style=\"margin: 0px 5px 5px 0px; width: 240px;\" \/><\/a> <em><strong>The other course <\/strong><\/em>is called &#39;Cooking the Books&#39;.&#0160; It is offered through the Continuing Studies Department of the University of Victoria, but I&#39;m teaching it at the Tuscany Village location of Thrifty Foods in Victoria, in the Cooking and Lifestyle Centre.&#0160; This means I will be cooking some of the dishes from some of the most influential cookbooks published over the years, including <em><strong>Mastering the Art of French Cooking<\/strong><\/em>, by Julia Child.<\/p>\n<p>Click <a href=\"http:\/\/www.uvcs.uvic.ca\/StudentSite\/CourseDetails\/index.aspx?sectionid=40405&amp;SectionCourseID=40384\" target=\"_blank\">here<\/a> for more information or to register.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p>&#0160; <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Time is running short&#8230;register today for two courses I&#39;m teaching starting this week.
