Ottawa, Thanksgiving 2007 – This is my brave brother-in-law, John Juraitis, lowering our Thanksgiving turkey into the deep-frying contraption he bought at Loblaws. He said, ‘I’ve never done this before, so if you’re game, let’s try it!’
Never being one to back away from a challenge, I said ‘let’s go for it’, and 20 litres of vegetable oil and 63 minutes later, we had one of the most excellent turkeys I have ever tasted.
